It has been almost 7 years to the day that I went to my first CrossFit class. When I think back to where I was physically, it had nothing on where I was spiritually. I thought during my fundamental class “Oh I got this “…and then I had to do Diane. The same “I got this” attitude towards my athletic ability transferred to my spiritual ability and led me to believe I can get through life just fine. I believed in Christ, and tried to be a good person, but felt I didn’t need any help. I would have thought it was just luck that the gym I chose was owned by one of the most loving and caring Christian man I have ever met. Now I know luck had nothing to do with it. Over the years I watched as he never hid his beliefs from his clients and stood strong for Christ. He was not only a Games style athlete but a Games style Christian and all I wanted to do was learn from him. I started attending church with him and his family. After a couple years, I started coaching and could feel something begin to pull me to believe that I could help people make a difference in their lives. One day a girl who later became a very important part of my life asked if I had heard of CrossFit Faith. I immediately stopped in that gravel parking lot and we talked for over an hour. I knew then that I had to have my own CrossFit box and this would be the way I would reach people to show them there is something so beautiful to believe in. About a month later that so-called “luck thing” happened again. The owner of the gym invited me over for dinner because he wanted to discuss something with me. That night everything in my life changed. One simple question “Would you be interested in buying CrossFit Snohomish?” My first thought was “I can’t even do a Muscle Up how can I own a gym?” But I remembered my favorite verse “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” He is the greatest coach in the world and with him planning my training I knew I could do this.
It’s been 2 and a half years since I became a gym owner and every day I sit in my gym after everyone has left and thank God for believing in me. The people I have met through FAITH RXD and the CrossFit Community have made it so easy to stand strong. I am a Christian and God will always come first in this gym. We became a FAITH RXD Chapter and ALLIED AFFILIATE and had our first meeting in January 2018. I was nervous no one was going to come, but then as more and more people started coming through that door, I believed this had nothing to do with luck. I was right where I should be trusting the process of praying, believing and waiting. I always thought if I could just bring 1 person to Christ that’s all I need to do. On the Saturday before Easter, a very dear friend of mine gave her life to Christ and was baptized in the gym. She said “this where I found Christ and where I feel Him every day.” I truly cannot wait to see what He has in store next for CrossFit Snohomish and everyone that walks through that door that thinks “Oh I got this.”
