Faith Workout: Free to Stand for Him

Be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks why you're living the way you are”

1 Peter 3:15

You were designed to STAND for something.  In the world of fitness we are prepared to defend what we believe.  Our passion oozes as we explain how functional fitness has changed our lives.  This is because it has become part of who we are.  We don't defend something we simply do.  We defend what has become part of our identity.

Christians are people who belong to Christ.  He is at the center of everything in our lives.  Christianity is not simply something we do.  It is who we are.  When Christ died He freed us from living a “me-centered life.”  Share the freedom this has given you, and stand for Him today!

1- “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God” – Colossians 3:2-3

2- “It’s news I’m most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God’s powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else!” – Romans 1:16

3- Sometimes I say to myself, “I will forget about him. I will not speak anymore in his name.” But when I say that, his message is like a fire burning inside me! It feels like it is burning deep in my bones! I get tired of trying to hold his message inside. And finally, I am not able to hold it in.” – Jeremiah 20:9

Faith Workout: It Matters

“Glorify God in that name” – 1 Peter 4:16

1 Peter 4

Our names matter to us.  If someone mistakenly calls us by the wrong name, it matters.  Why is that?  It's because our names serve as a the primary way we are defined.

Throughout the Bible we see people's names used to define their character.  Abraham, Jacob, his sons, and numerous others had names that signified their identity.  The greatest person to ever live on this planet was named with purpose.  “You shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

Who you are matters, so it matters what we are called.  Peter, who was so-named by Jesus, specifies this truth in the passage above.  Our identity in Christ matters.  It means everything.  And, when we realize who we are, it changes everything!

1 – What does your name mean?

2 – What does the name Christian mean?

3 – How does your identity in Christ affect your daily life?

4 – How does your identity in Christ affect your training?
