REFLECT

With fitness, we base truth on empirical evidence, scientific research, and measurable outcomes. During the workout, we put out trust in coaches, training manuals, and proven data to establish our workout truths.

In contrast, the truth in the Bible comes from our faith and the authority of Scripture, which is the most powerful form of evidence.

In today’s world, we often see how the truth can be distorted by the prevailing culture. Many voices claim that only things that make you feel good are of real value.

Our God focuses on eternal satisfaction, meaning we must exercise discipline in our lives, avoiding things that draw us away from the Lord. Our spiritual health also requires intentional choices to align with God’s truth.

In Timothy 4:6, The Apostle Paul tells Timothy, “If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed.” Why is this verse of Scripture important?

Because it emphasizes the importance of staying grounded in the truths of the Christian faith and faithfully passing them on to others, as a mark of effective Christian ministry and leadership.

In 1 Peter 1:21-23 we learn following Christ’s truth makes us born again. Peter highlights the transformation that has taken place in the lives of the believers through their faith in Jesus. He describes how they have purified themselves by obeying the truth, which has led to sincere love for one another. In addition, he urges them to continue to love one another deeply, from the heart, as evidence of their new birth in Christ.

It is not just a privilege, but also our solemn duty to uphold this truth. In a world where truth may be distorted or diluted, we must stand firm and unapologetically proclaim the Gospel.

RESPOND

1. Commit Timothy 4:6 to memory.

2. Write down two ways you can come to a deeper understanding of the truth of Christ and His gospel.
