“I will praise You because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made”

REFLECT
You were designed to witness and celebrate power.  Next week we will witness a show of power unequaled in the world of fitness.  Acknowledging this power is natural.  To celebrate this power is human.  Giving credit to the Creator for this power is what we were designed to do.
The power of our Creator is obvious when we look up.  “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” (Psalm 19:1)   Looking up provokes amazement of God in His power, but we can be equally impressed with our God when we look out to the power of these athletes.  Their strength, speed, and sheer work capacity cause us to be in awe of our God.
The most amazing fact the Psalmist ponders, however, is God’s concern for us in comparison to His massive creation.  “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:3-4)
This is what Jesus came to this earth to proclaim.  God is all-powerful, yet he deeply cares for us.  He knows every hair on my head (Matthew 10:30).  Jesus invites us to come to know this all-powerful God by following Him.  Praise Him for His power, but let His concern move you to submit your life to Him.
“How precious are your thoughts about me, O God.  They cannot be numbered!  I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!” (Psalm 139:17-18)
