We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Jacob Reed.

Bible Reading:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere-in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
‭‭Acts ‭1:8

These are the words of Jesus- post-resurrection, pre-ascension. It’s important to know this when you think about what this verse is saying to you right now.

“… you will receive power…” The Holy Spirit is indeed powerful, Jesus was raised to life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Being in relationship with the Holy Spirit gives us the power to see more than what is visible with our eyes, and to act accordingly. This gives us to make a difference in the spiritual realm.

“… you will be my witnesses…” The Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is so undeniable we must share it with those around us. Jesus is alive and that is what we are witnessing to in sharing our testimony. The context here is that the apostles are asking if the time had come to free Israel and for Jesus to restore His kingdom.

We so badly want the outcome. Like kids asking, “Are we there yet?” Or, after we do rounds of 50-40-30-20-10 reps of sit-ups, “Are my abs ripped yet?”

Here’s the TRUTH- the outcome has been decided. Maybe not the outcome of your ab situation, but the outcome of Jesus establishing His kingdom, It is finished. The destination is locked in.

What is asked of us in the meantime? To use the POWER He has given us through the holy spirit to be His witness, telling people about Him EVERYWHERE.

Thank you for the Holy Spirit, may you dwell in me and give me the vision to see spiritual things. Let your word speak to my spirit. And grant me the discernment and power to share You with those around me. In your name, amen

Think of one way you have been given Power by the Holy Spirit and one way you can share that power with the world.
