We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Travis Pate.

Bible Reading:

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭4:5‬
“Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.”

Word:

I had a friend that asked me one time, “What if you were the only Jesus that someone may ever know?” I don’t know about you, but that’s a pretty heavy question. But it’s also a very serious question and it’s one that we should ask ourselves. In fact, in our verse today, Paul urges us to be wise and make that best use of our time when dealing with those who do not know Christ.
In context, Paul is urging the church at Colossae to be ready to share the reason for their faith. As Christians, I think most of us understand that we each have a story to tell about the life of Jesus and how it has impacted us personally. However, I’m not sure that we understand the urgency.
If you are like me, if the moment isn’t absolutely perfect, I sometimes hesitate to have this all-important conversation. I often think that there will be another opportunity. But what if there isn’t? What if today was my turn and my opportunity and I chose my comfort over sharing the life-saving message of Jesus?
We can’t let these moments pass us by. We have to live our lives in a manner worthy of someone recognizing that we are different. And we have to be prepared to share the reason for our faith when we have the opportunity. Let’s be wise with our time. It might be the only opportunity we have.

Prayer:

Lord God, too many times I think that there may be other opportunities to share my faith with someone. I pray that you would fill me with courage, and help me to be ready to share the message of your love for us today. I pray that you would put a person in front of me today that needs to hear about you and that I would not let the opportunity pass. In Jesus’ name, amen!

Skillwork:

Is there someone that God has laid on your heart to share with? If so, make today the day that you share with that person. If not, pray that God would give you an opportunity today.
