We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Joe Mummert.

Bible Reading:

Matthew 25:40

“And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’”

Word:

A few years back, I had a family member we were living with that was diagnosed with cancer. It’s never a good thing to hear that but in the process of scheduling all of his treatments and appointments he was laid off from his job. Obviously, the time was stressful as is, but now this was adding a whole different layer to things.

I will never forget the day that they got the phone call. Someone from their small group called and informed them that the entire small group had gotten together and decided to pay their mortgage for them for 6 months…no questions asked, it was taken care of! I will always remember the overwhelming feeling of the goodness of God in that moment and the amount of tears that were flowing throughout the house.

This was a huge burden lifted off of my family and gave a glimpse of hope into the future. It was God’s way of saying that things were under control. As Christians, we are to take care of each other, and I think God will find some unexpected ways to help you give hope to others. It may not be as drastic as the example my family experienced, it could be more drastic, who knows. The point is to stay in touch with the Spirit and follow the prompting whenever you feel it!

Prayer:

God, help me to listen for your commands, help me to be your hands and feet when it comes to offering hope to others. I know that the more I can provide hope for others, the more I will be filled with hope as well.

Skillwork:

Spend time in prayer this week asking God to show you a way you can offer hope to someone.
