We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Michael Smith.

Bible Reading:

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:13-16

“All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

Word:

Don’t you hate spoilers?  Like when you unexpectedly learn the ending of a movie you’ve been wanting to see or find out who won a game that you had taken the time to record?  The only exception to that general rule that I can think of is the Bible – if you read the ending of Revelation it’s the best spoiler in the world, one that doesn’t frustrate or disappoint but that actually motivates and instills hope!

Revelation‬ ‭22:20-21‬

“He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”

‭‭

When it comes to perseverance it is vital to keep your “eyes on the prize” – our ultimate prize as the people of God is the fact that He is returning to restore all things, “to wipe away every tear from our eyes” (Rev. 21:4), and to take us to that “better country”.  The promise is certain and will take place – may this truth comfort you and help you to continue the race today!

Prayer:

God, please help me keep my eyes on you. The future is better than anything I could ever hope or wish for. Please help me trust and believe in the things that I can’t see- not things of this earth, but things of heaven. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Skillwork:

Spend some time today reflecting on what it means to be a “stranger on the earth” – or a Peter put it, “a pilgrim”.  Do you live like one?  Is your life more associated with this world or the next one that will never fade?  Take time to give yourself a heart check today – repent if needed and ask God to help you live every day like a child of the King.
