We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Michael Smith.

Bible Reading:

2 Samuel 10:12

“For you, O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, have made this revelation to your servant, saying, ‘I will build you a house.’ Therefore your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you.

Word:

In the text, Joab reminds his troops of a very important facet of God – sovereignty. He wanted them to remember that God is in control of all things at all times and He and He alone can do whatever He wants.

That thought can be somewhat scary if it’s not paired with one other key truth in scripture – that God is not only in control always, but that He also loves you always. May these 2 truths always give us courage regardless of what situation we find ourselves in:

  • God loves you always (Romans 5:8)
  • God is in control always (Romans 8:28)

Prayer:

Jesus, give me courage today as I remember that the cross is the only proof I’ll ever need of your unchanging love and that you are total control of every area of my life.

Skillwork:

Encourage someone in your life who needs to hear these truths today!
