We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Kelly Bryant.

Bible Reading:

Proverbs 30:5

Every word of God proves true;
    he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Word:

Have you ever felt anxiety around needing to pass an important test or exam? I remember how nervous I was as a high school student taking the test for my driver’s license and then later when I registered to take the SAT. It felt like my whole life was riding on my ability to select the right answers and remember all that I’d learned.
I’ve faced some test in adulthood as well, but thankfully many of those have been open book. For example, when I recently took the exam to continue my nutrition coaching certification, I was pleased to see that the exam was open book, untimed, and I had up to 7 chances to pass. Thankfully, I passed on the first try, but I wonder if part of my success came from not feeling the pressure to get it all right on my own. I knew I could rely on the resources and writing of others with much more knowledge and experience than I possessed to get to the correct answers.
Our Heavenly Father has given us the gift of the Bible for the same reason. God’s word is the open book to help us pass any tests that life tosses our way. When we stay connected in his word, we don’t have to rely on our own understanding as we face challenges. Instead, we can trust in the wisdom of our God. I am thankful that God, who has all knowledge and all power, gave us a guide on how to persevere through each test that we face. I’m even more thankful that when I fail, he doesn’t give up on me. His grace gives me another chance. Each day is an opportunity to lay down my anxiety as I open his word.

Prayer:

God, I need to confess how often I doubt what’s in your Word. That the Bible is a gift for me. Please change my heart and open my eyes to your truth right in front of me! Help me dive in to your word this week. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
