“The glory of the young is their strength…” (Proverbs 20:29)

REFLECT

This year’s Games was an opportunity to continually witness glory.  From the strength and performance of the competitors to the joy among spectators – God’s glory was constantly on display.  Of course, this was not evident to all, and none of us rightfully recognized God’s glory in every aspect that He is due (Romans 3:23).  But, several competitors and spectators vocally praised God.
The Faith Rx’d mission is captured in a verse found in the book of Romans concerning Abraham.  When given the promise of his inheritance through a son that did not yet exist, Abraham needed to grow strong in his faith.  This was especially true since Abraham’s wife was barren, and they were both pushing 100 years of age!  “No unbelief made [Abraham] waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God.” (Romans 4:20)
We were made to display the glory of God (Eph 1:4-6).  Certainly, this can be seen in God’s creation, which includes the impressive feats of fitness we witnessed in Carson.  But, it is the strength found in our faith that ultimately permits us to display God’s glory.  When we believe God is able to do what He has promised we are also confessing our desperate need for Him.  And, this is what makes Him look glorious.  Are you living for His glory?  Do you trust Him with your life?
“Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
