We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Jacob Reed.

Bible Reading:

1 Corinthians 1:28-29

God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

Word:

There was a group of ladies, all over 300 pounds who decided to run a Spartan race trifecta in Hawaii. That is 3 races totaling over 22 miles and 70 obstacles on extreme terrain in the course of only 2 days.

They were pushing through one of the races and had caught up to a group of adaptive athletes who were missing arms, legs, some in wheelchairs or on crutches, competing in the same race, no special rules, determined to finish together. They came to a very steep hill that was covered in mud. So steep and wet they had to lay down and crawl. They were literally pushing each other up trying not to slide back down.

One of the ladies had her face in the mud and a hand pushing on the prosthetic leg blade of the man in front of her. She looked over and saw 2 fairly fit men around 30 years old talking to each other. “If we have to do 1 more hill I’m outta here,” said one of them. The other agreed. Shortly after, the 2 men walked off the course and quit.

Who does God want to represent Him? Those who are easy to look at and appear to have it all together? Or those who will stand at the start line and acknowledge all of the stares, doubts, and rude comments from those around them, and finish the race no matter what? You may not look the part, be the most popular at church or the fittest one in your gym. That means you are perfect for God to use for His glory! You just have to be who you are and show up where HE wants you.

Be a humble beast.

Prayer:

God, tell me where to step out and be who you’ve called me to be, not so I can brag on myself, but so I can boast about you. Let me see people the way you do. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Skillwork:

Look at the week ahead, and identify where you can be a humble beast. Look for ANY opportunity.

BE A HUMBLE BEAST.
