REFLECT

Competitors possess a remarkable capacity to maintain composure in intense situations. They have an inherent understanding of self-control, allowing them to navigate complex challenges with unique mental fortitude.

During demanding workouts, they deftly handle mounting pressure, remaining poised and resolutely focused. Much like a steadfast lighthouse, they stand unwavering, undeterred by external forces, steadfastly guiding their thoughts to safety.

Just as a lighthouse is a beacon of stability amidst tumultuous waters, competitors embody a steadfast presence that inspires others. Their resolve and ability to steer through adversity shine as a guiding light, illuminating the path to success and empowering others to navigate their challenges with laser-focused determination.

In the Bible, many passages of Scripture provide an example of the calm that comes from God. The story of Jesus and his disciples during the storm best illustrates this calm.

In the beginning, Jesus gets into a boat, and his trusted disciples follow him. But when Jesus is asleep, a treacherous storm arrives, sending waves over the ship and terrifying his key followers.

The disciples don’t know how to handle the situation, so they wake up Jesus. Jesus hears their fears and calms the storm, easing everyone’s nerves and minds.

But then He reminds his disciples that there is nothing to fear with God by their side. This counsel from Jesus is an essential point that we can’t lose sight of because we have the ultimate secret weapon when Jesus is on our team. One that can bring us calm and peace like we never imagined.

John 14:27 reads, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples during the Last Supper, shortly before His crucifixion. He reassured them of the peace He would leave with them, which is distinct from the temporary peace offered by the world.
