We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Polly Barcol.
Bible Reading:
Psalm 146:3
“Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.“
Word:
Where does your courage come from? When you walked in the gym for the first time, or when you did the Open Games for the first time, or lifted a barbell for the first time? What gives you courage to try to PR on your deadlift?
Many times, we can get our courage from past experiences and past performances. We could get our courage from our fellow CrossFit athletes telling us we can do it! However, in life, it is not always that simple. We face people and decisions that could change the trajectory of our whole lives.
As a Christ Follower, our identity has changed. We are a new creation! I can find courage in the unchanging fact that I am God’s son or daughter, an heir to the Kingdom of God, and secure in Him, regardless of what I am facing or how I feel. Just like in medieval times, people were safer in their kingdom walls and even safer in the intimate chambers of the King. That is where we are!
We are spiritually in the most intimate chamber of our King, our God, enjoying relationship with Him. Because we are His! We can have courage to face the uncertain future knowing we are in a loving Father’s care. Put your courage in that today!
Prayer:
Lord, may we experience courage as we rest in who we are in You. In Jesus Name. Amen!
Skillwork:
Close your eyes and sit quietly and imagine yourself sitting with the Heavenly Father in the inner-most parts of a grand castle enjoying food and conversation. You hear the noise of threat outside the castle walls, but your Father says, “Take courage, do not be afraid.” Rest in that place today!
