Bible Reading:

Philippians‬ ‭3:13-14

13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Word:

Isn’t it interesting how much time we often spend dwelling on the past? Sometimes the memories are fond, we think back to happy times and significant markers in our past. However, in other cases, the past can be crippling – we are locked in regret for mistakes that we’ve made, or even worse, harmful things that might have been done to us.

While learning from the past and seeking help to heal from it are both very important, what Paul is encouraging us to do is as well – to strain and press on with the ultimate goal of eternity always in sight. Jesus loves you. Heaven awaits us. Our victory is sure. That is the prize!

Prayer:

Dear Lord, help me to remember that the past is something I cannot change- heal me from it and help me to spend more time reflecting on the love you have for me, the lengths you went to save me, and the fact that you are currently praying for me and preparing a place for me.

Skillwork:
