We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Matt Chow.
Bible Reading:
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
Zechariah 4:6
Word:
The scripture for today takes place in a time where Zerubbabel was governor of Jerusalem and had the task of rebuilding the temple. Zechariah, who was a prophet and priest of Israel is given, has a vision in which God says ““This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.” (Zechariah 4:6)
The rebuilding of the temple constantly faced challenges, and this was a reminder to the people that the work could only be completed with the Spirit of the Lord guiding the path. We don’t always get to see God’s grand masterplan, but we must trust that God has a plan, and his plan is always greater than anything we could do on our own. Over the past few weeks, I have witnessed how God’s plans were far greater than anything I could have imagined.
If you been watching the news, you know that the United States recently pulled out of Afghanistan and has brought many refugees to the United States. We had a member of our gym, whose spouse is in the military ask for donations for the refugees that she could deliver to the base in Quantico, VA. The base was going to take in approximately 5000 refugees and they were asking for donations.
We started collecting donations at our gym and in the first week we collected about $500 in supplies. Sounds like quite an accomplishment, but God was not done there. A local radio station found out we were collecting supplies and helped us get the word out on their radio station. Now donations begin to start flowing in from all over our local area. But GOD WAS STILL NOT DONE.
I posted the need for donations on our local chapter’s social media and it was shared with the greater FAITH RXD community. A member of another FAITH RXD chapter saw it and started an Amazon gift list. The gift list was completed within the first 24 hours. There were so many donations that the postal service could not handle them and asked me to come pick them up from their office. These past few weeks have been a great reminder for me that GOD’S PLAN > MY PLAN.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for Your Word. Thank you that I am equipped to carry out Your work in my life, but not through my own strength – but through your Spirit that lives in me. In your name I pray, AMEN.
Skillwork:
Do you believe God has a purpose for your life? God has a purpose for each of us, but we must trust and have faith in Him. A great place to find out how God wants to use you is to start volunteering. Did you know our local FAITH RXD chapters take on many service projects a year? Volunteering in a service project is a great way to give back to our communities and show others that we have the Spirit living in us.
