As Christians, we get to know the Bible like a best friend. We know it is there to support us through challenging times, and the stories within its pages are full of heavenly inspiration.
One such story is that of David and Goliath. It is a powerful example of how humility and trust in God help us conquer our biggest giants. How do you face your Goliaths in life?
The two types of Goliaths we will discuss today are long-term goals and negative influences.
Regarding our long-term goals, such things can be intimidating and challenging to maintain momentum and drive. Sometimes, we are mentally and physically drained, and the thought of keeping things going is tough to want to do. But we cannot let this mindset win. Instead, we should regroup and figure out a path forward. When we choose this way, we choose to think like champions.
Then there are the Goliath-sized negative influences in life. And with today’s culture, we are surrounded by them everywhere. We see these negative influences in media and entertainment frequently.
How do we handle it? We do as David did and stay on the path of righteousness. We trust that as we put effort into things like good Christian living and worship, we will be appropriately armed on the battlefield. So that when those Goliaths try to threaten our peace, we strike first instead, as David did.
In Romans, the Apostle Paul tells us how God empowers us. Romans 15:13 reads, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
May we be prepared and ready for the Goliaths of life, trusting in God and seeing the miraculous benefits in the process of it all.
