Proverbs 11:3

REFLECT

As disciples of Christ, we strive to live by godly principles that may not always align with the values of today’s culture. These principles serve as a compass that keeps us grounded on the path of following Jesus, preventing us from wandering off course.

One such principle is trusting in the Lord with all our heart and not relying solely on our own understanding, as stated in Proverbs 3:5-6. This principle reminds us to seek God’s guidance in all aspects of our lives, even when it may go against the prevailing cultural norms.

Another principle is the importance of integrity, emphasized in Proverbs 11:3. We are called to be upright and honest in our dealings. This principle reminds us to prioritize honesty and righteousness in our actions and relationships, regardless of societal pressures.

The Golden Rule, mentioned in Matthew 7:12, is another principle that guides our behavior as disciples of Christ. We are called to treat others with kindness, fairness, and respect, mirroring the love and compassion that Jesus showed to others. This principle encourages us to prioritize loving our others.

Mark 8:34-35 reads, “”And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, ‘If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s will save it.'” Here, Jesus teaches the principle of self-denial and self-sacrifice as a central aspect of discipleship.

Living by your principles can serve as a source of strength during times of distress and difficulty. Keeping your principles at the forefront of your life can guide your decisions, actions, and attitudes, helping you stay grounded and resilient.
