REFLECT

Competitors battle for every inch and triumph within life’s arena. Their strength is forged by their unrelenting dedication to their workouts and life beyond the gym, leaving no reserve as they push their limits.

When seeking refuge surpassing the physical realm, they turn to the spiritual. They lean on God and the teachings of the Bible, finding nourishment for the soul and peace for the mind.

When they are discouraged, they find courage and hope in Jesus Christ. They see Him as a shelter from the storms of life and put reliance and faith in Him.

In Matthew, Jesus tells us, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Just as a tidal wave’s immense force cannot be underestimated, the notion of a light burden doesn’t imply that Jesus intends to make our journey effortless. In fact, particularly in the contemporary landscape where God often takes a back seat, embracing Christ entails heightened accountability and a pursuit of personal growth that extends far beyond the realms of the mind and body.

Similar to how a tidal wave’s power demands respect, Christ’s teachings invite us to acknowledge the weight of our commitment. While His yoke is described as light, it’s not meant to be misconstrued as mere ease. Instead, it suggests a partnership in which our burdens are shared, but the path of discipleship requires dedication, transformation, and genuine alignment with God’s purpose.
