Ephesians 5:11

REFLECT

In this epic spiritual war against the Devil, we are akin to cannons being readied for the ultimate showdown. As we fortify our ranks and marshal our strength, we must remember that our adversary is no less diligent in amassing his dark forces. However, let us not be disheartened or discouraged. Our ironclad commitment to Jesus has endowed us with protection from on high, rendering the Devil’s arsenal impotent.

Just as a well-fortified fortress deflects enemy projectiles, our faith in Jesus acts as a force field against the Devil’s sinister schemes. But caution, soldiers: when we venture beyond the protective confines of our faith and make choices that jeopardize our spiritual well-being, we become vulnerable targets in Satan’s crosshairs. His assaults, much like cannonballs hurtling toward us, become increasingly challenging to evade or deflect.

Ephesians 6:12 reminds us of this fight. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” This profound Scripture underscores that our struggle extends beyond merely contending with the Devil himself; it encompasses all who willingly yield to his influence and embrace his ideologies. It emphasizes that this ongoing conflict is inherently spiritual, requiring commitment to Jesus and preparedness to face any challenges that may arise.

Every day, we face the choice to repel these evil influences, be they the temptations of contemporary culture or the insidious habits that threaten to trap and addict us. Like cannons steadfastly guarding the fortress, we must stand resolute, poised to repel the relentless onslaught of darkness and emerge victorious in our faith in Christ.
