We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Nate Hemphill.

Bible Reading:

1 Timothy 3:2-3

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife,  sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.

Word:

We’ve all heard the phrase “with great power comes great responsibility.” If you are like me, you think about getting bit by a radioactive spider, inheriting super powers and living a life of fighting crime and evil. But as followers of Christ we’ve been inhabited by God himself through the Holy Spirit. That means wherever we are, the presence of almighty God is!

What an amazing revelation to know that our spiritual DNA has changed, and the opportunity we have to freely give away what has been given to us. In today’s scripture passage, we can see the high expectations that are required in order to step into positions of spiritual leadership.

As we grow in our faith and learn more about our commission to spread the gospel of Jesus, we are becoming more Christ-like. In our transformation, we are being equipped to lead others in the same manner that we were lead. That means that people should see Christ reflected in your work, your marriage, your body and health, your finances etc. There is a great need for every believer’s contribution to Kingdom causes.

If you take a close look at the people in the places that you are, you’ll see the need for Jesus everywhere. This is why it is so important that we set the example by mirroring Christ. Remember that we’ve been given a great gift; freedom from the bondage of sin and communion with God. The world desperately needs the same freedom that only comes from a relationship with Christ. Let’s aspire to reflect Him in everything we do and say. Let’s reflect him in our lives.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus I aspire to have you reflected in all of my being. I ask that you’d help me to rely on you more and more in order that I might be transformed into your image. Help others to see you in me. In Jesus name, Amen!

Skillwork:

How is God being reflected in your life? Can the world see the evidence of Christ working through your job, your marriage, your relationships etc? Think and pray about how Jesus can use you to be a light to the world around you.
