Bible Reading:
1 Corinthians 13:13
“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
Word:
Faith can move mountains. Hope can sustain generations through many struggles, but LOVE saved the world. In 1 John 4:8, we see that God is LOVE. His very being is the one thing we all need and want the most in our time on earth. To be accepted just as we are.
Many of us have felt and experienced this kind of LOVE from God and His people. When surrounded by this type of LOVE we are changed as we respond. This is where our journey to becoming LOVE to those around us begins.
Our nature is not one of unconditional love. We are naturally quite the opposite. From the time we are small, we selectively love others based on what they do for us, or how nice they are to us. But when we are faced with the reality of a savior who decided to sacrifice himself and ask for nothing in return, there is only one right choice. Stop trying to change people, stop trying to debate, stop demanding that everyone believe like we do, and LOVE them.
Prayer:
Father God, When I think of all the evil around me I am overwhelmed. Give me the wisdom to lay down my will, pick up my cross and BE love to everyone. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Skillwork:
Find an enemy. You probably won’t have to look very hard. Pray for them, do something out of love for them.
