Bible Reading:
Hebrews 11:29-4029 By faith the people crossed the Red Sea as on dry land, but the Egyptians, when they attempted to do the same, were drowned. 30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By faith Rahab the prostitute did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had given a friendly welcome to the spies.
Word:
Wow! Anytime I read Hebrews 11, it is wow! All in one place we have the heroes of the faith, people who persevered through unimaginable circumstances! In the CrossFit world, we can see when someone perseveres physically through a tough workout. However, we can’t see into their thoughts into the mental perseverance that it takes. And on some workouts, it takes a lot!!! To persevere, we need mental and physical ‘grit’, don’t we?
I believe, we are three parts, mind, body, and spirit. All three work together to make up the whole and they all impact the others. What’s incredible is that Christ Followers have Jesus in their spirits and now have a whole ‘nother level of ability to persevere. This new spirit then affects our minds and bodies.
I believe, we can discipline our minds and bodies to overcome great obstacles, but the greatest perseverance we see in the Bible, and will see in our own lives, is one that stems from our spirits, from Jesus living in us. It is a supernatural ability to persevere.
Remember, as you face day to day difficulties, or huge seasons of difficulty, there is a level of perseverance only found in Jesus and He wants to give that to you for His glory! We can only tap into that supernatural perseverance by accepting Jesus into our lives, and then enjoying a loving relationship with Him 24/7.
Prayer:
Lord, may your supernatural perseverance come through in my life for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
