REFLECT
Wisdom tells us not to rush, but committed followers of God are not hesitant.  We are called to do what is right and act on our convictions immediately.  God’s Word clearly defines a failure to act on our convictions as sin (James 4:17).  Have you ever been convicted to do something but couldn’t bring yourself to do it?  What held you back?  What keeps you from doing what you know is right?  In the sport of fitness we know there is a time to pace ourselves for optimal performance, but we can’t succeed without an attitude of urgency.
The Philippian jailer who was in charge of Paul and Silas was greatly moved by the events he witnessed.  He knew something needed to change in his life.  He wanted the protection and strength these men of God possessed, so he asked, “What must I do?”  When we are convicted to make a change we must begin with this question.  Their response pointed directly to the answer to all such questions:  Put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Notice how quickly the man responded.  He did not wait till morning to obey what he knew to be right.  ”At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.”  This is how we honor God.  Seek the truth and respond immediately.
“But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” – James 1:25

1- What convictions have you failed to act upon?

2- What keeps you from acting on your convictions?  Fear, doubt, etc?

3- Ask God what you must do.  Put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, find the answer from His Word, and act immediately!
