“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

REFLECT

Try to imagine the safest, most comfortable place in your world.  Where is it?  Who is there?  Why do you feel safe?  Believers can take “refuge” in the Lord, which means a place of safety.  As you reflect on your life, I’m sure you can remember times when you got “burned” by others.  You trusted someone, and it backfired in your face.  You have a sour taste in your mouth because someone did not fulfill your expectations.  Or, worse than that, they never even showed up.
This passage says the Lord is better because He is always there.  You can trust Him.  “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good.  His faithful love endures forever.”

RESPOND

1.   Identify 3 people you trust.  What characteristics provide proof they can be trusted?
2.   Describe an instance in your life that proves the trustworthiness of the Lord.
3.  What attitudes, or actions, demonstrate you still do not trust completely in the Lord?
“The one who trusts in himself is a fool, but one who walks in wisdom will be safe.” (Proverbs 28:26)
