James 1:12

REFLECT

We all strive to achieve something worthwhile, not out of selfish desires but because we understand that we improve ourselves as individuals and athletes when we hit our targets and goals.

But we also recognize that sometimes we fail more than we would like before we achieve anything we are proud of. NBA Legend Michael Jordan once said, “I’ve failed over & over & over again in my life & that is why I succeed.” Now that doesn’t mean we aren’t in the top percentile of athletes that ever lived like Michael Jordan. But what it does tell us is there is a certain mindset to achieving what we want.

1. What you achieved in the last year?

“It is also about creating a meaningful and fulfilling life for ourselves and our families. When we achieve our goals in our personal lives, we are setting a good example for our children and showing them that anything is possible if they work hard and never give up.

In our relationships with our spouses and children, we can achieve by:

  • Being present and engaged. When we are with our loved ones, we should give them our full attention. This means putting away our phones and other distractions and focusing on the moment.
  • Communicating effectively. We should be open and honest with our loved ones about our thoughts and feelings. This will help us to build trust and understanding.
  • Being supportive and encouraging. We should be there to cheer our loved ones on, both in their successes and in their challenges.

And we must remember that if we keep our eyes on God, he will help us with our achievements. Proverbs tells us this, “”In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
