We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Phil Woody.
Bible Reading:
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”2 Peter 1:3
Word:
You ever thought about what is really needed to live, really live, today? You have your basics of life, food, water shelter. These in and of themselves can prove to be of increasing challenge in today’s world. Now add to it the really hard stuff, to know and be known by others in trusting relationships. There is no real life outside of this. But hasn’t trust evaporated into something so intangible it seems, like vapor or air. We have the need for significance, to really matter in the world. This feels increasingly harder the smaller the whole world has gotten through the internet. You can now compare yourself to billions, all clambering for the spotlight on social media.
Physiologists have broken down all our needs to a list 30+ long, divided up into 5 categories. This list ranges from rest and relaxation to Self Acceptance and Autonomy. When I read the list I get tired even looking at it, craving more than half that feel somewhat vacant in my own life.
2 Peter 1:3 tells us it’s all been provided for already. You don’t have to hunt for it, mine for it, claw or beg for it. It is God’s power provides for all of it. And it’s through the supernatural knowledge of him that he gives us. Not a man made knowledge that can figure out God, but a God revealing himself. Its in intimately knowing him you discover he has already provided for it all out of his Unfathomable love for you. He has the power for life as he isn’t holding out. He provides the power for life, he provides the intimate knowledge of him to trust him with our life. And he calls us to come to him for it.
Prayer:
Jesus, reveal where it is I need your power most revealed. Now help me see it’s already there and empower me to receive it without question or doubt. In your name, amen!
Skillwork:
Is there anything you feel that’s missing from your life. If it is, it’s not because you don’t have it. The scripture says, “has given.” That’s past tense. It means it’s already here and available to you. Ask him to show you where that provision is for you today. He wants you living big and alive because then others will look at you and see Him. See…it’s for His glory. So ask and receive today!
