We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Lindsey Strickler.
Bible Reading:
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”
Ecclesiastes 9:10
“But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.”
1 Timothy 6:6-12

On today’s podcast we’re sitting down with Jared Graybeal. Jared is an incredibly driven person. To balance his drive with the contentment that God calls us to, he’s developed a daily system that works well for him. We discuss what that striving and contentment journey has been like for him, as well as what he’s been up to since we last sat down at the 2021 CrossFit Games.
In the interview, Jared mentions the importance of Gratitude. It’s part of his system for balancing striving and contentment. Another piece is having a set of values he wrote out. Here’s a sample of what he shares with us from that list he created:
- I will be grateful no matter what. By recognizing what God is currently blessing me with, and spending a moment down memory lane realizing just how far He’s brought me and how much He has done for me and changed me
- I will never forget where I came from. By staying in the past for a moment, reflecting on my childhood, my upbringing, all the doubts I had, the adversity, the opposition – and then looking at where I’m at now in comparison and not forgetting about all the people and circumstances that got me here
- I will always do my best with everything that I do. By operating not to just “get things done”, but to set the example in how they should be done. Ecclesiastes 9:10
- I will embrace who I am and what God has designed me for. By always revisiting my values and promises to decide if I’m continually walking in alignment, and not letting the voice of the enemy(s) and/or my actions hold me back
If you missed our last podcast with Jared, you should go back and listen. We talk more about his testimony and how he came to know the Lord. It’s a wild story that only God could write.
