We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Polly Barcol.
Bible Reading:
Proverbs 21:5“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance,
but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.”
Word:
I love how the Message version states this verse: “Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind.” “Careful planning” seems pretty clear. I am a planner, so this comes easier to me than some people. When we are planning a trip, my husband just gives me the reigns, because he knows I like knowing every step along the way.
Once, we went on a trip to Washington D.C. and New York and I had every hour planned. I had sites to see, restaurants to eat at, entertainment, travel, you name it, I had it down and tickets bought! My husband thinks it is overkill at times, but let me tell you, he was so glad I had this trip so CAREFULLY PLANNED, because he reaped the benefits of seeing all he wanted to see in just a week.
I have to admit, our feet were very sore, but it was one of the best trips we have ever taken. You see, many times, we just don’t want to put the work in to carefully plan things out. However, we know from a carefully planned workout regimen, we will reap the benefits. Who wants to attend a gym that has put no thought or planning into their workout programming? Not me!
We want the benefits from careful planning. But are we carefully planning out things we have control over, so OTHERS reap benefits? And besides all the above, who wants to be put further behind? Not me! Let’s set goals, have strategic plans for every part of our lives that we will continue to move forward in physical fitness, career, family and all of life! Nothing is too small to plan!
Prayer:
Lord, may I careful plan all parts of my life so that you are glorified. In Jesus’ name, amen!
Skillwork:
Ask Jesus what you have slacked in planning. Make a list and start coming up with goals and a plan to reach them.
