Bible Reading:

2 Corinthians 12:10

“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

Word:

This past year has been full of trials and troubles for many of us. But it’s not just this past year, we are guaranteed to face trials in this life.

Trials are going to be a part of life and should be an opportunity to strengthen our hope in the promises of God. In any trial, the way you respond can either be an opportunity of learning and growth, or another frustration and roadblock in your life.

In our main verse for today, Paul says for when I am weak, then I am strong. What does this mean? Paul is talking about finding hope in every moment, regardless of the circumstances. When the eyes of the world tell us that we are weak or foolish, we know our hope and strength is found in Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus that we can be conquerors in this present life.

We live for a purpose far greater than the present life; we have the gift of an eternal life through Jesus Christ. The eternal life with Jesus does not start when we die, rather it starts the moment that we accept Jesus into our lives. This is why when we are faced with the trials and troubles in this life, we can cling to the hope and promises that God. It is for Christ’s sake that when we are faced with troubles, sufferings, and pain, He has given us the necessary strength to endure it.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I pray that I learn to trust in the hope and promises of Your Word. Help me to strengthen my trust in you so that your name will be glorified in my life. It’s in Jesus name that I pray, AMEN.

Skillwork:

Read 2 Corinthians and study how Paul handles the troubles he is faced with. How can you apply that to your life?
