We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Polly Barcol.

Bible Reading:

But he was pierced for our transgressions;
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
    and with his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

Word:

How do we have peace in this crazy world and crazy times?  What does that look like?  Oftentimes, I am guilty of focusing on what’s crazy instead of on Jesus.  The Word challenges us to fix our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2).  I don’t know about you, but I am easily distracted!  Distractions come in all shapes and sizes… hurts from people close to us, cars breaking down, money tight, natural disaster, disease, political turmoil, etc.  We have distractions all around us!

God calls out to us just like He did with Peter walking on water… “fix your eyes on me”. Because He is the one who took our punishment for sin, and we have peace with Him.  Having peace with God is the only real peace that matters.  We might struggle to feel peaceful in our crazy times, but we have peace for eternity with God as a Christ Follower.

Because peace is a person, Jesus is THE PRINCE OF PEACE.  If we have Jesus in us and we are in Him, then we have PEACE always no matter what. Storms can’t take it away!  Distractions can’t take it away!  People or circumstances can’t take it away!  We have it permanently whether we have the emotion of peace or not.  We have peace period.

Prayer:

Lord, may I fix my eyes on You and eternity knowing I have peace permanently whether I feel like it or not. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Skillwork:

Ask Jesus to show you how He is your peace today.  Then, listen.
