Bible Reading:

1 Peter 1:3-7

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Word:

1 Peter says that we are given new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus. We know the new birth is not a physical birth but a spiritual one. As a Christ Follower, we are new in our spirit and now alive.

Before we met Christ, we were dead in our sins, again not a physical death but a spiritual one. Jesus through his death, burial and resurrection made a way for us to be raised too! We can have hope, because Jesus gave His life not only for us, but TO US! And we are now alive! And now we also have an eternal home in heaven so we will live forever!

This is not just good news; this is great news! This is HOPEFUL news! We not only can have an emotion of hope, but we actually have a living person who is hope, Jesus, who is alive in us! He is with us and always wanting to do life with us. Whether, a good day or a bad day, Jesus wants to live it with you. He will celebrate with you on good days and He will carry you on bad days. We are not alone! Now that’s hope!

Prayer:

Lord, may we experience You today, our Living Hope! In Jesus Name. Amen!

Skillwork:

Make time to talk to Jesus today and ask Him to show you how He is giving you hope today. Then, listen.
