Bible Reading:
1 Corinthians 13:5
“… [Love] keeps no record of wrongs.”
Word:
The main focus for today’s scripture reading is Love keeps no record of wrongs. Jesus was the ultimate example of this kind of love. In fact, while we were still sinners, he died for us and said “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34)
We can say we love each other, but often times as soon as we get angry with one another we also are quick to point out all the wrongs the other person has done in the past. That was me for a long time, when it came to my marriage. A simple disagreement would lead to painful memories, resentment, and days of not talking to each other. That’s not love.
I was focused on myself and how I was hurt. When you love someone you don’t focus on yourself, but instead the needs of the other person. As a parent of two young children, there have been plenty of times that my children have done something to upset me. I still love them regardless of their mistakes.
I don’t keep a list of their mistakes and remind them of it each time they mess up. I love them, because they are my children. That’s exactly how God feels about you and I. We are his children and he loves us regardless of our screw ups.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for providing the perfect example of love. Help me to show others the same love that You show me every day. Thank you for loving me regardless of my mess ups, hurts, and habits. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

One of my favorite parables in the bible is the story of the prodigal son. Open your bible to Luke 15:11- 32 and read this parable. The father loved the son who ran away and welcomed him with open arms despite how the son treated his father. That’s the same for you and I.
