REFLECT

As competitors, our bodies need constant nourishment. Because of our active lifestyles, we have a higher caloric intake than most people.

We understand that incorporating the right food, vitamins, and supplements can enhance performance and heighten our awareness during workouts. Without these essentials, we may experience a decline in energy levels and find ourselves feeling sluggish, ultimately hindering our ability to perform optimally as athletes.

1. How do you feel when you don’t take vitamins or supplements?

Imagine your body as a temple, as Paul describes. Would you willingly open the temple doors and allow garbage to pile up inside? Certainly not.

Recognizing the sacred nature of our bodies and practicing self-care, we are committed to filling them with the best possible nourishment. Just as a temple is treated with reverence and kept pure, we treat our bodies with respect by providing them with the highest quality substances they deserve.

We have filled our spiritual bodies with God’s Word, a soul-nourishing vitamin that can’t be found on any shelf store. And His Word will bring us joy and happiness. The Prophet Jeremiah expressed this in the Bible. He said, “When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.”

As Jeremiah did, we too, can feast on Jesus’s teachings for nourishment. In Psalm Scripture is described as “more precious than gold” and “sweeter than honey from the honeycomb.”

While it may not have a physical taste, God’s Word is sweet, filling, and rich to all that choose to read and apply it to their lives. It spiritually fuels us, giving us the zeal and energy to fight back against The Devil and his armies.

RESPOND

1. Commit Psalm 19:10 to memory.

2. Write down two ways you can add more nourishment to your soul.
