We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Michael Smith.

Bible Reading:

Matthew 6:9-10

Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.[a]
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,[b]
on earth as it is in heaven.

Word:

Job loss. Relocation. Injury. Singleness. Divorce. Cancer. Failure. Death. They are few things in life more humbling than admitting you’re just not as in control as you’d like to be. A few things harder than believing that God loves you and is always in control of every circumstance (whether you understand it or not). That’s why Jesus’ prayer (aka The Lord’s Prayer) is so powerful!

In it, we see our position – God is our FATHER. This is a revolutionary and radical concept, but it is our ultimate reality. You, Christian, are a child of God and can access Him at all times. He loves you unconditionally like a perfect father would.

Second, your Father has a kingdom, your have the humble privilege of joining Him in its advancement now, and of being a part of it forever when He returns to establish it forever.

Third, regardless of how good or bad life might be going, your loving Father is working out His will. It will be wonderful at times, mysterious at times, and hard at times, but it will always be something that you can trust your Father with – no matter what, He loves you, always has your best interest in mind, and is working out His will on about 1000 different levels, you’re just seeing 2 or 3 of them!

Prayer:

Father, increase my faith and help me to remember that I am your child and that your will, whether I understand it or not, is always purposeful and best.

Skillwork:

Skill work – try using the Lord’s Prayer as a daily prayer “springboard”:

Monday – “Our Father,” reflect on this reality.

Tuesday – “Holy is your name,” praise Him for His holiness, thank Him for the salvation that allows you to access it.

Wednesday – “Your kingdom come,” pray for kingdom advancement, ask how you can join Him

Etc!!
