We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Andrea Johnson.
Bible Reading:
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:4-7
Word:
“Going against the grain,” is an expression that means taking action in the opposite direction of what is expected. It takes courage to go against the grain and stand up for what you believe. But, to demonstrate a life of faith and trust in God, we must go against the grain and take action in the opposite directions of what others may expect.
When our circumstances loudly express doubt and fear, Paul says the antidote is to rejoice and pray with thanksgiving. This action comes with a promise. When we let God know how much we trust Him when we rejoice and pray in situations where we could easily complain, the Word of God says that God will guard our hearts and minds with peace. Simply put, “Complain and remain. Praise and be raised.”(Joyce Meyer)
Prayer:
Father, today I will not let this challenge silence my praise. I am a child of God, and I know that you have a plan for me. Plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give me a future and a hope. I thank you for divine peace. Amen.
Skillwork:
Today, when you find yourself in a situation that tries to cause you to fret or worry – go against the grain! Praise God in advance for his divine peace, express your gratitude to the one that has promised to be a very present help!
