We’ve got your daily encouragement, written by Thomas Reed.
Reading:
Colossians 1:9-10
“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;”
Word:
As we begin a new year we often think a lot about setting new resolutions or goals. Typically the goals at the top of most peoples list are similar: Losing weight, exercise regularly, or getting out of debt. Within 30 days those goals are usually long in our rear view mirror.
I often find setting goals to be easier as they relate to my business and CrossFit. The simple reason why is because I am constantly engaged with both of them. I enjoy both and it keeps me vested.
As we enter the new year I encourage you to identify a few spiritual growth goals. There are many options: becoming engaged in one on one discipleship, reading through the Bible in a year, joining a Bible study, etc. One easy way to grow in your spiritual walk with Christ is by using the Bible App. The app includes Devotional plans for all kinds of different topics.
Using these plans keeps me engaged with God’s word daily.
Prayer:
God, I really want to get to know you better and grow spiritually. Please help me have discipline to start reading your word each day, and if I should use the Bible App, show me which study to start. I know I need intentional community that will also help me grow. Please lead me to the right relationships that will do that. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Skillwork:
Download the Bible app and become engaged using the devotional plans. Maybe start inviting friends to complete the plan with you.
