Bible Reading:
“You are radiant with light,
more majestic than mountains rich with game.”Psalms 76:4
Word:
This verse talks about how great our God is. Not only that but he is all around us and can be known by everyone. Have you looked all around the world? The first part of the verse says, “You are resplendent with light”, meaning God’s presence is like light that is all around us. This is free for everyone to know who He is.
Have you ever climbed to the top of a mountain and looked around? It truly is a sight to behold. But God is far greater than that. The second part of the verse says He is more majestic than the mountains. He wants our lives to reflect how great He is.
What this shows us is an example of praise, an example of expressing our gratitude. The Psalmist is expressing his awe and gratitude that God’s presence is all around us. He’s expressing how God is greater than anything we can find on earth.
So often when talking to God, the first thing I go to is not gratitude, or expressing who God is. So often it’s straight to, “God, this is what’s wrong and I need your help [insert life issue here].” But when I shift my focus from my problems, to first remembering who God is in the midst of them, my whole perspective changes. I’m not saying ignore the problems, just don’t start there.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the beautiful reminders of your greatness all around me. Help remind me to seek your guidance in all matters, so that my life can be a reflection of You, AMEN.
Skillwork:
Spend some time just thanking God for who he is and the blessings in your life. Maybe break out your journal and list them out. Or something else, at the gym today share with someone what you’re grateful for about God and tell them why.
