Bible Reading:
“Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness,
And for His wonders to the sons of men!
For He has satisfied the thirsty soul,
And the hungry soul He has filled with what is good.”
Psalm 107:8-9
Word:
Perspective drastically changes our thoughts and feelings toward life, our relationships with each other, and most importantly our relationship with God. How we interpret what we see and experience is our perspective- and if it we are not interpreting correctly, then our thoughts and emotions are also incorrect or inappropriate. So often believing a lie will cause us to make it true in our lives, to our detriment.
We can protect our hearts and minds from the pitfalls of acting on lies by checking our thoughts against the word of God! God tells us in his word to, “Take every thought captive.” This means that we should check each stray thought against his word and to reject anything that does not align with his truth.
This is a tough discipline to make habit, but the result of aligning our perspectives with God’s is always immense thankfulness and love for God. He has been so kind to humanity and to each of us on personal levels. Let’s dive into God’s word and allow it to change the way we think and see things!
Our verses today are an example of what we should replace the negative thoughts in our mind with. If you find yourself fixating on a lie, or on something destructive, begin repeating Bible verses to your self.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for the love that you have poured out on us! Please teach our hearts to acknowledge and be thankful for who you are. Help us to choose your truth above whatever false narrative we tend to think or speak over our lives. Amen.
Skillwork:
Let’s challenge ourselves to take every thought captive and reject the ones that don’t line up with God’s words! Anger, fear, pride, depression, and other negative feelings and thoughts are indicators that there is a lie that needs to be addressed and kicked out! Once we identify them, let’s find scripture to speak over ourselves instead.
The first step is memorizing scripture. Take this week to memorize our verses from today.
