Bible Reading:
“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 1:18
Word:
The message of the gospel, the good news, is powerful. There will be transformative work when we allow ourselves to be vessels that carry this good news to others. The same power was displayed in the beginning when God used His words to form the heavens, earth, and everything in-between is the same power that resides in the Words that we speak when we proclaim God’s word to others.
Romans 1:16 reminds us not to be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.
We can be extraordinarily confident that this great gospel has the power to snatch people from death and reveal eternal life literally. We can be highly sure that the Word of God is alive and full of power, making it active, operative, energizing, and effective (Hebrews 4:12 AMP).
What we can not be sure of is how others receive it. Some will think it to be foolishness, plant the seed anyway. The bible tells us that some will plant, some will water, but God gives the increase. (1 Corinthians 3:6) We can trust God to do His part; the question is, will you?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for this great gospel. I pray for the strength and boldness to speak Your Word. When I am fearful, I pray that You provide the right words at the right moment to produce the right result. It’s in your name that we pray, amen.
Skillwork:
When you are presented with the opportunity to share this good news, don’t rely on your strength. Ask God to help. Hebrews 13:6 says so that we can say with great confidence: “I know the Lord is for me, and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!” God’s got you!
