Bible Reading:
“The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.””Exodus 33:14
Word:
Throughout both the Old and New Testament we find that God promises to be with His people. Here in Exodus, God tells Moses as he leads the Israelites that His presence would go with him. We see further evidence when Jesus comes. God tells Mary that she is to name her son Immanuel, which means, “God with us”. And when Jesus leaves to be with the Father, he tells his followers that he will send a helper to guide them.
Often we may feel that we are alone, inadequate and struggling. However, God’s promises are always true! Many times we are just disconnected from the source of everything that we could ever need. God wants us to lean into Him and rely on Him. When we are doing His work He will do the heavy lifting. All we have to do is be willing to go along and do what He tells us.
As our perfect Father He wants what’s best for us and doesn’t want us to have to go at it alone. He’s going to be right there with you! The awesome thing about this truth is that when we believe it and live it, we have rest and peace! Trust that He’s with you!
Prayer:
God, your Word has so many promises. I don’t always believe them wholeheartedly but I want to. I want to trust you and to know you more. Help me to draw closer to you and teach me more about who you are so that my faith will grow. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Skillwork:
If you knew that God was with you, what is one thing that you would do that you haven’t committed to? Pray the prayer above again and commit your one thing to God.
